Skills for Health–approved online learning platform for healthcare training.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Healthcare and medical training in the UK comes with a specific set of expectations — courses must meet recognised quality standards, learning must be trackable, and certification must be verifiable. A UK-based healthcare training provider needed a modern online learning platform that could deliver mandatory and specialist training courses to healthcare staff and medical professionals — all approved under Skills for Health.
HMMBiz was brought in to design and develop the full learning management system — a platform where instructors could build and deliver courses, and learners could complete certified training on their own schedule, from any device.
THE CHALLENGE
The client's existing training delivery was constrained by traditional, in-person formats that limited reach, increased cost, and made tracking learner progress difficult across multiple healthcare organisations. Moving to an online platform required more than uploading documents — it needed a structured learning environment where instructors had full course-building control and learners had a clear, guided experience from enrolment through to certification.
The platform also needed to support employee onboarding workflows — making it useful not just for external course delivery but for internal healthcare workforce training as well.
Skills for Health–approved course delivery in a structured digital environment
Instructor-led course creation with support for PPT, text, image, and video uploads
Individual lesson management with flexible content types per module
Quiz and assessment functionality to track and evaluate learner progress
Certification upon successful course completion with verifiable records
Employee onboarding and training support for healthcare organisations
Admin panel for platform management, user oversight, and reporting
Google Cloud deployment with CI/CD pipeline for reliability and uptime
WHAT WE BUILT
HMMBiz developed a full-featured online learning management system — a clean, instructor-controlled course delivery platform with a learner-facing interface, quiz and certification engine, and a comprehensive admin panel, all deployed on Google Cloud.
Instructors could build and structure courses directly within the platform — adding individual lessons, uploading course materials in multiple formats (PPT, text, image, and video), and organising content into a clear, progressive learning sequence for each course.
The platform was built to accept a range of content types per lesson — PowerPoint presentations, written text, images, and video — giving instructors the flexibility to deliver training in the format that best suited the subject matter, without being constrained to a single content type.
A built-in quiz and assessment module allowed instructors to set questions at the end of lessons or modules — giving both the learner and the instructor a clear measure of understanding and progress throughout the course.
Upon successfully completing a course and passing the required assessments, learners received a certificate of completion — providing a verifiable, digital record of their training that met the standards expected in a regulated healthcare environment.
Beyond external course delivery, the platform supported structured onboarding workflows for healthcare organisations — enabling new staff to complete mandatory training requirements as part of their induction process through the same system.
A comprehensive administration panel gave the client's team full oversight of the platform — managing instructors, learners, course libraries, enrolments, quiz results, certification records, and system-wide reporting from a single interface built on PHP, Laravel, and MongoDB.
The learner-facing web application was built in PHP, HTML, CSS, and SASS — delivering a clean, responsive interface that worked consistently across desktop and mobile devices for healthcare professionals accessing training at any time.
The platform was deployed on Google Cloud with a CI/CD pipeline — ensuring reliable uptime, fast load performance, and a structured process for pushing future course and feature updates without disruption to live learners.
OUTCOMES DELIVERED
The platform gave this UK healthcare training provider a scalable digital infrastructure for course delivery — replacing the limitations of in-person training with an always-on, certification-ready LMS that could serve healthcare organisations of any size.
Learners could access and complete their mandatory and specialist training courses at any time, from any device — removing the scheduling constraints that came with in-person delivery and improving completion rates across healthcare organisations.
Instructors gained full control over course structure, content, and assessment — building and updating learning materials directly within the platform without requiring technical support for routine content changes.
Every completed course generated a digital certificate — giving learners, employers, and healthcare organisations a clear, auditable record of training completion that met Skills for Health approval standards.
Healthcare organisations could use the platform to deliver structured mandatory training as part of new staff onboarding — consolidating induction requirements into a single, trackable digital workflow.
The platform architecture was built to support multiple healthcare organisations using the same system — each with their own learner pools, course assignments, and reporting, without interfering with each other's data.
Building a Training Platform?
Healthcare learning platforms require more than a course uploader — they need structured assessment, verifiable certification, and an architecture that supports compliance. Tell HMMBiz what you're building.
