Next-generation patient engagement platform built for UK GP practices.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
GP practices across the UK were under pressure to deliver faster, more flexible access to care — without adding strain to already stretched clinical staff. A leading UK HealthTech company needed a fully integrated digital platform that allowed patients to book appointments, request prescriptions, and connect with their GP via remote audio and video consultations — all from a single, reliable interface.
HMMBiz was brought in to design and build the full platform across iOS, Android, and web. The goal was a seamless, accessible experience for patients and a manageable, scalable back-end for GP practice administrators.
THE CHALLENGE
UK primary care was moving fast toward digital-first delivery, but most existing tools were fragmented — one app for appointments, another for prescriptions, no integrated video solution. The client needed a single platform that could handle all of this while meeting NHS-adjacent compliance expectations and working reliably across a range of devices and connectivity conditions.
The brief included multilingual support to serve the diverse patient populations across UK urban GP practices — adding another layer of technical and UX complexity to the build.
Real-time appointment booking with live GP availability visibility
Multilingual interface supporting multiple languages
Prescription request and management workflow
Cross-platform consistency across iOS, Android, and browser
Integrated audio and video consultation delivery
Admin panel for GP practice staff to manage patient interactions
WHAT WE BUILT
HMMBiz designed and developed a fully integrated, cross-platform digital health solution — covering every touchpoint from patient registration through to post-consultation follow-up.
Native mobile apps built for both iOS and Android, giving patients a reliable experience on their own devices. The apps handled appointment booking, prescription requests, consultation access, and practice notifications — all in one place.
A responsive web version of the platform extended access to patients without smartphones, and gave practice administrators a full management interface for scheduling, patient records, and consultation oversight.
Patients could view live GP availability and book, reschedule, or cancel appointments directly through the app — reducing front-desk call volume and improving practice efficiency.
A structured prescription request workflow allowed patients to submit repeat prescription requests digitally, with GP review and approval tracked through the admin panel.
Integrated audio and video consultation capability meant GPs could see patients remotely without switching to a third-party tool — keeping the entire care journey inside a single platform.
The interface was built with multilingual support to serve diverse patient populations across UK urban GP practices — a core accessibility requirement for the client.
A comprehensive practice administration panel gave GP staff control over appointment scheduling, patient communication, prescription approvals, and consultation records.
OUTCOMES DELIVERED
The platform gave GP practices across the UK a single digital front door for patient engagement — replacing fragmented tools with one consistent, maintained system.
Automated appointment booking and prescription requests reduced routine inbound calls to practice reception staff, freeing clinical admin time for higher-priority tasks.
Practices gained a fully integrated video and audio consultation channel — giving them the infrastructure to deliver care to patients who could not attend in person.
Patients could access GP services at any time through mobile or web — reducing barriers for working-age adults, parents, and patients with mobility constraints.
The platform was built to scale across multiple GP practices, with each practice operating its own isolated admin environment within the same core system.
Healthcare digital products require more than good design — they need the right architecture, compliance awareness, and a team that understands how clinical workflows actually function. Tell us what you're building.
SERVICES DELIVERED
This project combined three core HMMBiz service areas into a single integrated engagement — each dependent on the others to deliver a coherent end product.
Full-stack web platform with patient-facing interface and GP practice admin panel, built for performance and cross-browser reliability.
IOS and Android native apps built to deliver a consistent experience across both platforms — appointment booking, prescriptions, consultations, and notifications.
End-to-end UX design covering patient journeys, admin workflows, and multilingual interface requirements — ensuring the platform was accessible and intuitive for all user types.
