PROJECT OVERVIEW
Businesses across Zimbabwe faced a persistent problem — getting paid online was slow, fragmented, and technically out of reach for many enterprises. Existing solutions required multiple integrations, failed to support local payment networks, and offered no simple way to send customers a payment request. The client set out to change that with a single, seamless digital payment platform connecting micro, small, and large enterprises to every payment channel that mattered.
HMMBiz was brought in to design and develop the full platform — a secure, scalable payment gateway that integrated directly with key financial players in Zimbabwe and gave businesses the simplest possible path from invoice to payment.
THE CHALLENGE
The brief went beyond a basic payment form. The client needed a service aggregator platform capable of connecting with banks, wallet companies, telecom providers, retail chains, and international aggregators — all through a single, unified system. It had to support multiple currencies and multiple payment methods while remaining simple enough for small business owners to use without technical training.
The additional requirement was speed at the business end — generating an invoice and getting a payment link to a customer via email, SMS, or WhatsApp in as few steps as possible.
Secure multi-currency payment processing across Zimbabwe's financial ecosystem
Direct integrations with banks, wallet providers, telecom companies, and retail chains
Invoice generation and instant payment link delivery via email, SMS, and WhatsApp
Credit and debit card acceptance across multiple providers
Admin panel for full platform management and transaction oversight
Scalable architecture capable of serving micro enterprises through to national payment systems
Google Cloud deployment with CI/CD pipeline for reliability and security
WHAT WE BUILT
HMMBiz developed a seamless, secure, and scalable digital service delivery platform — connecting Zimbabwean businesses to every payment channel they needed through a single, manageable interface.
The core of the platform was a payment gateway built to handle transactions in multiple currencies — giving businesses the ability to accept payments from local and international customers without managing separate systems for each currency.
HMMBiz connected the platform directly with key players in Zimbabwe's financial ecosystem — banks, digital wallet companies, telecom providers, retail chains, and international aggregators — enabling reliable payment processing through established, trusted channels.
Businesses could generate a professional invoice directly within the platform and instantly send a corresponding payment link to their customer via email, SMS, or WhatsApp — reducing the time between issuing a request and receiving payment.
The platform was integrated to accept both credit and debit card payments — broadening the range of customers businesses could serve and removing a significant friction point in the payment journey.
A comprehensive administration panel gave the client full oversight of the platform — managing users, monitoring transactions, configuring integrations, and maintaining operational control across the full service ecosystem.
The customer-facing web application was built in PHP, HTML, CSS, and SASS — delivering a clean, responsive interface that worked reliably across devices for both business users and their customers.
The platform was deployed on Google Cloud with a CI/CD pipeline — providing the security, uptime, and structured update process required for a financial services platform operating in a regulated environment.
OUTCOMES DELIVERED
The platform gave Zimbabwean businesses a practical, reliable way to accept online payments — removing the technical and financial barriers that had previously made digital payment infrastructure inaccessible for smaller enterprises.
Businesses could move from invoice creation to payment link delivery in minutes — via the channel their customer already used, whether email, SMS, or WhatsApp. Waiting for payment became a shorter process.
With credit cards, debit cards, digital wallets, and telecoms all integrated into a single platform, businesses could serve a much wider customer base without asking customers to use an unfamiliar payment method.
The ability to transact in multiple currencies gave businesses serving both local and international customers a platform that could grow with their reach — without requiring a separate solution for each market.
The architecture was built to scale from individual micro-enterprise users all the way to national payment system operators — making the platform viable as a long-term infrastructure investment, not just a short-term fix.
Google Cloud deployment with CI/CD gave the platform the security and uptime standards required for financial services — with a deployment process that made future updates safe, structured, and low-disruption.
